Florida man who changed his name to ‘Harambe Junior’ arrested for indecent exposure

Law enforcement officials in Miami have arrested a 31-year old man over an incident outside a popular bar in the city’s downtown area last night.

According to reports by local media, the man, who had changed his name by deed poll to ‘Harambe Junior’, was found in a drunk and disorderly state outside the bar exposing himself to members of the public. Sources say his original name was Herbert Jones.

One witness who was inside the bar told the media how the man had been kicked out after ordering a round of drinks and refusing to pay. “The bartender had a whole line of shots poured but they guy must have run out of money,” said the witness.

After being ejected from the premises, it is alleged that the man then removed his pants and began ‘waving his genitalia’ in the direction of bystanders, shouting “Di*ks out for Harambe”. A concerned member of the public phoned the authorities, who were soon on scene.

The man was arrested on charges of indecent exposure and disturbing the peace. He’s currently being held pending a bail hearing.

The man’s unusual name and behavior is apparently related to an internet meme that rose to popularity following the death of a gorilla named Harambe at the Cincinnati Zoo. In that incident, took place in May 2016, a three-year old child climbed into the gorilla’s enclosure, forcing zoo officials to shoot the animal to protect the child’s safety.

In the months since the death of Harambe, he has become something of an internet sensation, with the puzzling trend of online users paying tribute to the gorilla with the phrase ‘Di*ks out for Harambe’.

It is believe that this meme began after a Twitter user posted an image with the caption “We comin with them di*ks out to avenge harambe!!!” It is unclear what prompted the link between the male sex organ and the death of a gorilla.
