Record number of Florida voters request absentee ballots

Florida, likely to be the key battle-ground state in the upcoming election, has seen a record number of voters requesting to vote by mail. So far an estimated 3.5 million Floridians have asked for ballots.

Absentee ballots are unusually popular in in Florida, with some analysts estimating approximately 50% of votes will take place prior to election day. A high concentration of seniors and holiday makers in the state are the key drivers for this trend.
