US companies investing more, contributing to improved growth

US economic growth was better-than-feared in the second quarter, according to economic experts. Driving the positive results was an expansions in exports and increased investments by US-based companies.

GDP expanded at 1.4% in the quarter, which was up from the 1.1% rate reported last month and higher than most analysts’ expectations, which were for an average expansion of just 0.5%.
